Ditch boredom! Play unblocked flash games at school!
Hi, My name's Alex Wilton and I'm the founder and developer of MakeSkoolFun.
When I was in my last year of school and exam time came I needed some way to actively procrastinate in order to take my mind of revising and relax. A fun way which my friends did this was playing flash games. Unfortunately, all of the flash games were blocked by school. My slightly rebellious younger self took this as a challenge.
I therefore made it my personal project to develop a flash gaming website in order to play unblocked games at school. This, however, was before the days I knew how to code. I first developed MakeSkoolFun using Google blogger towards the end of 2011. It wasn't pretty, however, it worked for a while and it took my school a long time to block what first appeared to be a blog, while actually being a flash gaming website.
Since then, I've been studying Computer Science at the University of St Andrews where I've picked up the all useful programming skills. As a mini Summer project in 2014, I decided to give MakeSkoolFun a huge renovation. This included building a simple web scraper to extract all the useful information from my old site, building a content management system to manage and generate the website as well as trying to think of new ways of keeping the site unblocked. It was a lot of fun!
I plan to continue to develop MakeSkoolFun, however, it is a side project and is therefore likely to continue in leaps and bounds when I'm looking for a creative outlet.
